Key Assessment: Instructional Design Plan
Reflection - Instructional Design Plan
The instructional design unit I created gave me the opportunity to move through the instructional design process from start to finish and was one of the more challenging key assessments I completed during my graduate studies. From identifying a learning problem and performing a learner analysis to completing a task analysis, defining the instructional objectives, and developing assessments, I was able to completely plan an instructional design unit while putting to use the design methods I learned throughout my studies. Working through the design process gave me the opportunity to plan a professional development unit for a group of adult learners.

Reflection
For my Instructional Design Teaching Unit, I worked with a 7th-Grade Social Studies teacher to develop a unit based on content standards covering forms of government and African governments. We identified the need for this unit based on poor test scores in this area in the past, a high rate of failure on the review quiz she administered to her students, and the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessment. I worked to create activities that would be meaningful and that the students would be able to use to connect what they are learning in the classroom with real world happenings. I also created a pathfinder for students to use to guide them in their studies. This was a very challenging task that I enjoyed accomplishing, and it was a good practice for the future in getting to experience what collaboration between a classroom teacher and a media specialist looks like in an actual school setting.
